Improv for Kids

Ages 7 - 11

This class empowers kids to use the creativity they already have inside them. We use acting techniques to support the child, rather than mold the child into an actor.

It’s a safe space for kids to have fun and explore their imagination. We play theater games,  improvs and work on short scripted scenes that kids write together.

A Typical Class Includes:

  • Opening Circle

  • Warm up

  • Grounding (meditation)

  • Skill building games

  • Performance

  • Reflection

  • Closing Circle

Kids Playing “Living Painting”

All classes are mixed ages 7 - 11.

Limit of 12 kids per class.

Kids develop their social skills, quick thinking skills, self calming skills, storytelling skills and so much more!

Moonie loves the class so much! He looks forward to it each week and is so happy and excited after every class! It seems like such a warm, welcoming and safe environment. He seems to feel so comfortable in the class, we’re so thrilled that it exists!

This class is for kids to gain confidence, make friends and have fun!

My Teaching Ambassador Statement:

I teach to give children a window to themselves and to others. To empower children using improvisation and theatre games, giving them the opportunity to express themselves. Improvisation is a fantastic tool to enhance social skills which ultimately can make the world a better place.

Course Objectives:

Students will flex their creativity muscles playing games that build skills such as quick thinking, imagination, listening and responding. They’ll learn how to ground and calm themselves, preparing their “instrument” for optimal fun and performance. They will learn about story and its components such as beginning, middle and end, characters and conflicts. They’ll experience what it means to be part of an ensemble which leads to cooperation. Toward the end of the eight weeks students will develop an improv into a skit to be performed for friends and family on the final day.

At the end of the course, kids will have more confidence in their impulses and imagination. Their listening skills and awareness of others will be sharpened. They will feel more freedom and connection to themselves.

It’s a great class! It makes you feel welcome and you get to learn a lot about acting. I’d recommend it to other kids.
